Wenn Gott den Menschen zu sich hin erschaffen hat, und wenn der Mensch Gottes Kunstwerk ist, dann ist zu erwarten, dass im Menschen Spuren Gottes zu finden sind. Der Mensch hat einen Transzendenz-Instinkt. Man mag sich dieses Instinktes nicht immer bewusst sein. Man kann auf dieser Erde leben, ohne sich bewusst mit Metaphysik, Philosophie und Religion zu beschäftigen. Doch der Tod macht uns einen Strich durch die Rechnung.
Spätestens in der Begegnung mit dem Tod tauchen Fragen auf: Wo ist der geliebte verstorbene Mensch jetzt ? Gibt es ein Leben nach dem Tod ? Gibt es Gott ? Oder ist alles vollkommen sinnlos ? Der Tod -symbolisch oft dargestellt als "der Mann mit der Sense"- lässt uns eiskalt bewusst werden, dass das Leben absurd ist. Doch das Gefühl der Absurdität entsteht nur, weil wir einen Sinn erwarten und nicht finden. Wenn wir keinen Transzendenz-Instinkt hätten, würden wir keinen Sinn erwarten, und uns würde garnicht auffallen, dass der Sinn fehlt.
Wir suchen nach Sinn. Wir brauchen Sinn. Wir sehnen uns nach Sinn. Und wenn es einen Gott gibt, der der Ursprung von Allem ist, die "Erste Ursache", die Letzte Instanz, das Ewig-Seiende, der "ICH BIN", dann muss der Sinn mit ihm zusammenhängen !

If God created man unto himself, and if man is God`s work of art, it should be expected that there are traces of God in man. Man has a transcendence-instinct. One might not always be aware of this instinct. A person can live on this earth without consciously dealing with metaphysics, philosophy and religion. But death crosses our plans.
At the latest, in encountering death questions arise: Where is the dead beloved person now ?
Is there life after death ? Is there a God ? Or is everything totally meaningless ? Death -often represented symbolically as the "Man with the scythe"- unmercifully lets us be aware that life is absurd. But we get this feeling of absurdity only, because we expect meaning in life and don`t find any. If we didn`t have any transcendence-instinct, we wouldn`t expect any meaning, and we wouldn`t notice that the meaning is missing.
We search for meaning. We need meaning. We long for meaning. And if there is a God who is the origin of everything, the "First Cause", the Last Instance, the Eternal-Existence, the "I AM", then meaning must be connected with Him !
